Visit the UK Art Museum

Visit the Art Museum to see the museum’s permanent collection – works of art from a rich variety of times and places are on view at all times. The collection includes significant examples of painting, sculpture, works on paper, and photography. Visitors can also enjoy our sculpture garden, directly outside the museum’s entrance. Campus Recreation Guest Passes

Explore Campus Recreation resources and facilities at no additional cost during Family Weekend! Students must have an active membership and remain with their guests in the facility. Family members must be 14 years or older and bring a photo ID. 

Early Family Weekend Check-in

Monday, September 16 - Thursday, September 19, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Send your student to check in your family for Family Weekend using their BBNvolved Event Pass. Early Check-in allows you to beat the crowds and get your Family Weekend event entry buttons, swag bags, and any apparel you purchased. Family members wishing to check in without their student present will need their student's name and UKY email address.

Big Blue Pantry Food Drive at Family Weekend Check-in

Help support students in need – donate to the Big Blue Pantry! The Big Blue Pantry serves UK students experiencing food insecurity by distributing non-perishable food items. Bring a canned good, a jar of peanut butter, or a monetary donation for the Big Blue Pantry to Family Weekend Check-in, Monday - Thursday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Friday, 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. For more information on the pantry and a list of suggested donation items, visit their website.

UK Volleyball vs. Tennessee

Cheer on the volleyball team as they take on Tennessee! As a special treat for Family Weekend guests, any UK student wishing to bring their family to the game can get four guests in for free in addition to the regular free student admission (with a valid UK student ID). They simply need to show their student ID, enter with their guests, and sit in general admission seating; no advance purchase required. Additional tickets are $8 for adult general admission and $10 for a reserved ticket (all ages). For reserved seating areas, all patrons require a ticket, regardless of age.

Wellness Retreat

Spend time focusing on your mental, physical, and emotional health while participating in fitness and meditation routines, chair massages, educational sessions, and a well-being resource fair in the Gatton Student Center. Therapy dogs will make an appearance, and guests will have the opportunity to get a free flu shot and giveaways. The Wellness Retreat is hosted by Student Well-being, UK Dining, UK Retail Pharmacies, UK Integrated Medicine, University Health Service, UK Police Department, WRFL, and the Parent and Family Association.

A Taste of the Kentucky Doughnut Trail

In 2012, The New York Times article “Twists and Turns along a Kentucky Doughnut Trail” brought well-deserved publicity to many of the region’s fine doughnut purveyors and introduced the country to one of Kentucky’s sweetest secrets. Now we are bringing those sweet treats to you in the final event of Family Weekend! Drop by the Gatton Student Center Ballroom between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Top Gun: Maverick Movie Night

Bring your lawn chair and join us for an outdoor movie night at the new Alumni Commons along Rose Street near the Chemistry-Physics Building. The first 100 attendees will receive a UK Alumni picnic blanket. The movie will start at dusk. Rain location will be the Gatton Student Center Worsham Cinema. This event is sponsored by Raising Canes and the UK Alumni Association.

Festival Latino de Lexington

Join Wildcat families and members of the Lexington community to celebrate Latin American art and culture in the heart of downtown Lexington at the Festival Latino de Lexington! With live music, dance, visual arts, and authentic cuisine, there is plenty to explore and enjoy. Be sure to stop by UK’s table in the non-profit organization tent! The festival is presented by Lexington Parks & Recreation and the Foundation for Latin American and Latino Culture and Arts.   Accessibility

Family Reunions

As a member of the extended Wildcat family, we want to invite you and your students to participate in our brand new series of Family Reunions during Family Weekend. Family Reunions are smaller groups of students and their families with common interests and experiences coming together to celebrate student achievements and get to know one another.
